Barcelona, a photo a day

Graffiti

Another, rather artful, graffiti on a shopfront.

July 19th. When I took this photo, I knew the grafitti looked somehow familiar. Thank you James, from Newtown PA, for reminding me that it was the cover for the 1979 Joy Division album, Unknown Pleasures. Now it’s a shop front in Barcelona.

I was surprised at how respectful grafitti artists are of the stone work. It seems like all the grafitti is on the iron doors!

  3. You've made an very artsistc image form a little grafitti. I do find some grafitti is so well done that it seems a shame it's not thought of as art. Then a agin some is just plain vandalism.

  4. Like it! Would call it “urban art”; more classy! 🙂

Interesting subject… Are graffiti an art form? I am not a tagger myself, but I believe it is an form of art in itself.

  7. I'm not really certain where graffiti leaves off and art begins. This is a nicely composed image of an interesting creative effort.

  8. This is graffiti? It looks more like intentional artwork.
