Barcelona, a photo a day

Industrial port

Another side of Barcelona, far away from the tourist trail, is the industrial port, just a bit further down the coast from the ferry terminals. No much fishing here anymore, they put a marina and a shopping center in what used to be the old fishing port.
Lots of industry around, as Catalans remind me often of busy bees or ants. Hardworking people. Several car factories, amongst others.

  1. I just found your blog – I love Barcelona and was there in July visiting my son in Malgrat and spent a few days in Barcelona with an old friend – we went up Montjuic and crossed the bay in the cable car to Sant Sebastian. This looks like the views from there. I have a photo slide show of Barcelona over on my blog at the top of the sidebar and a post on Barcelona from the Bus Turistic as well, which was a fun way to see the city for newcomers.
I look forward to seeing more of your photos.welcome to follow my blog if you like! Thanks. Catherine

I really enjoy seeing parts of a town that tourists don't usually see. And this one is really good.

  5. This really is a far cry from what we're used to seeing on your posts. I guess it's not all celebrations and bright colors, however this I'm sure is an important part of the economy there. You sure found a good vantage point to take this one. Nice shot Rob.

  7. I'm really surprised at the amount of industry. It's still a lovely image regardless of the subject.

I believe there is beauty in everything, if you know how to see it. Just open your eyes and your mind.

  10. What a plethora of industry! Not really very attractive, and yet it creates a certain interest. I like your photo a lot. I think you have caught the essence of this area…I can almost smell the salty air, the stench of manufacturing, the colliding breezes from the ocean.

    Well done, Rob!

  11. The dark side of modernisation. we loose all the small beautiful things in the process. guess all of this is irreversible and it will only lead to more of unnatural things..

do you have pics of the old fish port??

  12. You've captured this little patch of industry in such an exquisite light. I would imagine the people who work down in there, the 'busy bees of Catalan,' would be amazed to see how beautiful their workplace actually is.

  13. Thank you for showing us, in an attractive way, a side of Barcelona that we do not usually see.

I was amazed at your comment a few days ago that you have been to more than 100 countries. What perspective that must give you, and what an inventory of experiences and travel stories you must have.
