Rambla del Raval
La Rambla del Raval, yesterday afternoon. The Raval is a part of the old town also know as Ravalistan, due to the high number of Pakistanis living in the area. In the 1920es, it was known as Chinatown…
Anyway, 2 policemen on duty are watching, so that nobody graffities Botero’s Cat, further down on the square. Spanish police uniforms are quite fierce, they look more like paratroopers than like your friendly neighborhood cop.

The first picture reminds me much of the city and its centre, I happen to live in, as Police does indeed look nearly alike; and are as well carrying small machine guns, as Dave wrote – makes one wonder whether it is the fault of South Europe, as I don't remember France, Germany to have features like this.
Indeed the second invites to colour it.

Just returned from seeing Alice in Wonderland and was reminded of Barcelona's display last summer. Between that and la Sagrada Familia, I would be taking pictures for weeks!

“Friendly neighbourhood cop”? Hmmm, to me all of them look kinda grim (nothing against cops, it's just a silly impression).

Very artistic, the played-with photo.
I like the idea of using graffiti as a verb.
Your police actually look friendly to me. You should see out new Yasam units: special anti-riot police that cruise around, two on a motorcycle, wearing black leathers, with big automatic rifles.

You are right about the appearance of the policemen. It must be the boots. Some places in the world, such as Italy, I have seen policemen carrying small machine guns, which also looks more like the military than police.
