Barcelona, a photo a day

Time for a break

This is inside the Hospidal de la Sanra Creu i Sant Pau, hospital of the Holy Cross and Saint Paul. Opened in 1401, it is one of the longuest running hospitals in the world. Rebuilt in 1905, it is a very fine example of catalan modernism. Unesco classifies it as a world heritage site.

I posted this photo before, on june 27th 2009. The reason I am posting it again is that I will spend 10-15 days in this hospital (in the brand new wing, opened 6-8 months ago), getting some plumbing done, a quadruple coronary bypass (yep, was supposed to be a triple). Therefore, for the very first time, this blog is momentarily on holidays. Will be back asap.

Several of my fellow bloggers already know about my operation, and really, guys, YOU ROCK! Thanks for your support, prayers, thoughts. C ya soon, folks!

  8. Oh dear. You will be in my prayers, Rob. I hope the surgery goes well and that you recover quickly. Big hug from Manila! And I hope Mandy doesn't mind. 😉

I remember this photo well. I've never had to stay in a hospital and I hope that I never will have to, even if it's as gorgeous as this one.

What a beautiful hospital. In the U.S., we certainly don't have hospitals built with such beauty and elegance.

  20. Tell Mandy that we'll be gathered around her in spirit as she sits through the long hours of your plumbing redo. May the hands, eyes, skills, and minds of your doctors and nurses be at the top of their game as they work on you. Sending all good and healing wishes from Vermont.

  26. Best wishes to you for your surgery and recovery. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

What a beautiful hospital. I am sure that a hospital to elegant in decor and with such a long and rich history attracts excellent doctors and staff. If you let them know that you have let the world know about the hospital by featuring it on your website, maybe they will give you extra attentive care.
