Barcelona, a photo a day

Excellent!

Other day, other boat. This is the 202 m long GNV Excellent, arriving from Genoa, Italy and en route to Tangiers, Morocco. Photo taken from the top of the Mirador de Colon, the Columbus Column.

It is a ferry, not a cruise ship,  going from places in Italy to Barcelona, Tunisia, Morocco and Malta. The Excellent can hold up to 2230 passengers, 760 cars and has 425 cabins.
Grandi Navi Veloci means Big Fast Boats in Italian. Which is a funny name in a way. Let us rename Porsche  ‘ Too Fast German Cars That Should Not be Driven by 18 Years Old’, and Nespresso ‘ Georges Clooney’s life and death’. Can you think of anything else?

  1. Love your header of the cafe!
The top boat shot is excellent; good line and muted color. Thank you.

  2. VP

An impressive and quite familiar view. I don't know this ship, but maybe she's going to visit Livorno sooner or later.

  4. I would have guessed some kind of cruise ship from that first photo. 'Tis a huge ferry. I've been on small ferries, but nothing like this…kind of like taking your home with you or at least your car!

    Excellent photography.

Re your comment on The Villages: “Vatican bank” – that's very funny. But I didn't see any clergy going with nothing and coming out with bulging briefcases, so I think not! 😉

they're beautiful to look at, the glimmering effect looks amazing.

sorry for not visiting too often, busy with work and “real” (no exaggeration) bad internet connection. ^-^

  11. I still can't get used to the “bigness” of these ships.
The shimmering silvery water is pretty.

Did you hear about our fierce weekend storm? A cargo ship sank off Ashdod in the huge waves and wind. All were rescued.
