Barcelona, a photo a day

Monday Doorways

As my health is ever so slowly, but steadily, improving, I did last Saturday what I’ve been willing to do for 3 years, without it ever coming to it: I went to visit the old Poblenou cemetery.

Well, it is a beautiful place, the mausoleums are an open air museum. Recognized many names of the Barcelona bourgeoisie.

But… Why is this door open/broken???

I couldn’t resist taking a photo, of course, and posting it for Louis la Vache’s excellent Monday Doorways meme.

And of course, being me, I just had to photoshop it a bit!

Here is some more info.

  1. Wow, did you squeeze through to investigate more closely? NOT!
I'd love to roam that old cemetery.

  5. would be interesting to take a quick tour,
but always have a weird feeling about the other realm.
and taking fotos of them somehow feels like i'm evading their privacy, haha! that's the superstitious side of me… ^0^

  7. Congratulations on getting out and about again, take it slowly though. Beautiful shots of the cemetery, it's a shame that vandals even do their worst in such special places as this.

  9. First off, glad your health is improving. And glad you got to see and photograph this interesting mausoleum. I do wonder, in the explanation, if the writer really meant that the cemetery has “suffered” modifications, which to me means that they were not good changes.
