«Louis» just “assumed” that Barcelona is still a busy and active port, including for fishing. That it isn't is similar to San Francisco. There are very few remaining working fishing boats in San Francisco. During the 60s and 70s, the very militant Longshoremens Union drove the shipping lines across the bay to Oakland – so now the port of San Francisco has almost no shipping business while Oakland has boomed. Radical “environmentalists” have made it difficult and expensive for cruise ships to stop in San Francisco, so it is now a “big deal” if a cruise ship calls on the city. All of this has cost businesses and restaurants in San Francisco a fortune in lost revenues.
