Monday Doorways
As my health is ever so slowly, but steadily, improving, I did last Saturday what I’ve been willing to do for 3 years, without it ever coming to it: I went to visit the old Poblenou cemetery.
Well, it is a beautiful place, the mausoleums are an open air museum. Recognized many names of the Barcelona bourgeoisie.
But… Why is this door open/broken???
I couldn’t resist taking a photo, of course, and posting it for Louis la Vache’s excellent Monday Doorways meme.
And of course, being me, I just had to photoshop it a bit!
Here is some more info.
The green door
Saw this nice door today, and I thought that would be just perfect for Monday Doorways!
Some of you wanted an update on yesterday’s general elections in Spain. Well, Mr Mariano Rajoy will be the next prime minister, his party, the PopularĀ (or populist) Party having won the absolute majority. The socialists are out.
What I think of it? 1 winner, 46 million losers. We’re the next Greece.
Monday doorways
Yet another photo from our archives, a door, Sanctuary of Our Lady in Fatima, Portugal.
More magnificent doors here.
Monday doorway
The noble entrance to one of the many luxury hotels in the area around Plaza de Catalunya.
Please have a look at what other participants to Louis La Vache’s Doorways on Monday meme did!
My World Tuesday
Catalunya is a land full of wonderful doors and gates. Just have a look around you, and you’ll find one.
Our friend Louis la Vache, aka our coffee man in Frisco, started a little meme about this theme. Don’t miss it!
This, of course is my world on Tuesday. Want to know more? It’s right here!
Organic biomorph
This is what is commonly called Gaudi’s masterpiece, Casa Mila, better known as La Pedrera, the stone quarry. A view of one of the staircases. More info here.
Waiting at the Mandarin Oriental
The entrance to the hotel Mandarin Oriental, one of the many luxury hotels on Passeig de Gracia. The lady seemed to be waiting for… something, someone? Boring job, on a grey sunday afternoon.
Price per room per night, from 365 euros, or 516 US dollars, up to 1740 euros for a suite, or 2078 $. Which is quite OK, as the rate for a suite at the Arts Hotel can go up to 10.000 euros, or 14140.27 US dollars. Per night.
I started anothe little blog, posting not necessarily my best, but definitely my favorite photos from around the world. You’ll find them on top of the sidebar.
